Board

Alistair Barkhouse

Captain

I have a great deal of experience in driving commercial success through the development and implementation of, sales and marketing plans that I believe will be helpful in driving the overall performance of the Golf Club.
Specifically, as a Director, I intend to focus on Members’ experience both on and off the golf course and that is of the highest quality and value. I believe that success starts with being able to clearly articulate a succinct and transferable vision of success, being able to passionately build on that vision with well-structured strategic plans and executing those plans to ensure success.

Passionate member of Woodlands for over 10 years with a strong leadership and developmental approach.

Sean Baker

Director

I’ve been a regular golfer and Woodlands member for 35 years.

I bring strong leadership and strategic planning skills to the Club board, backed by years of past experience as a Director of my own business and as VP of Sales and Business Development, I’ve honed my ability to drive growth, foster partnerships, and manage teams effectively towards a vision.

With over 30 years of experience playing golf both professionally and as a low-handicap amateur, I bring a deep golfing IQ and clear understanding of the game, our wonderful course, and the club experience. My passion for classic golf architecture and design began in 1997 when I traveled to America for the first time. This passion has been further enriched by experiencing some of the world’s best golf courses and finest private clubs. These experiences have significantly deepened my appreciation for excellence in golf, something I am deeply passionate about.

I am confident that my background and enthusiasm will contribute significantly to the board’s efforts to enhance the member experience at Woodlands Golf Club.

Director

I am fiercely proud of our Club. There are few greater senses of pride for me than inviting guests to Woodlands (many of whom are Sandbelt or Mornington Peninsula-based members themselves) and seeing them discover – or rediscover – a course they love. Further, I firmly believe the social culture at Woodlands is without peer in our area, and I suspect that’s not just a local observation. That doesn’t happen overnight and ought to be another source of pride for all.

As a member, I’ve had the opportunity to create many special memories with both family and friends. I was lucky enough to win the 2022 Family Trophy with my dad Jim.

As I’ve got older, close friends I’ve had for 20+ years are all enjoying different and rewarding phases and milestones in their own lives – but the ability to have a shared hobby that allows us to catch up for meaningful periods of time and celebrate those things is important to me. Woodlands has always for me been synonymous with spending quality time with friends – which for that reason alone makes it a very special place.

Local and social sport has played a big part in my life – both on and off-field. I’ve got an amazing amount out of the sporting clubs of which I’ve been a member or player over the last two decades and get plenty of fulfilment from the idea of giving back to them. I’m enthusiastic to make a greater contribution at Woodlands Golf Club, and I’m confident I’ll be able to do that.

Our course is great and only getting better – and I want to contribute to making the Club, in its entirety, the best it can be for both the members of today and our future fellow members.
